Niki de Herdt (born November 20, 1986 in Lier ) is a Belgian ice hockey player who has been under contract with Phantoms Antwerp again since 2014 , with whom he has played in the Belgian-Dutch BeNe League since 2015 .

Career

Niki de Herdt comes from the youth department of the Phantoms Deurne , where he made his debut in the Belgian honorary division in 2001 . In 2002 he moved to the U18 team of Karhu-Kissat Vantaa and played there for a year in the third highest U18 league in Finland. He then returned to Antwerp and played again for the next two years for the Phantoms, with whom he won the Belgian Cup in 2005 . After this success he moved to Nyköpings Hockey in the J20 Elit , the second highest Swedish youth league, but also completed two games for the club in HockeyAllsvenskan , the second highest men's division in the Scandinavian country. In 2007 he returned to the Belgian honor division and initially played for three years at Olympia Heist op den Berg , where he won the cup for the second time in 2010. He spent the 2010/11 season at White Caps Turnhout . With the Nordbelgiern he could not only celebrate his third victory in the national cup, but also win the national championship title for the first time . After spending the following season with Ånge IK in Division 1 , Sweden's third-highest division, he returned to Turnhout where he stayed until 2014. Since then he has played again for his parent club, which is now called Phantoms Antwerp , and for which he has been playing in the newly founded Belgian-Dutch BeNe League since 2015 . In 2015 he became Belgian champions with the Phantoms in the last year of the Belgian honorary division.

International

For Belgium, Morgan took part in the junior division of the U18 World Championships in 2002 in Division III, 2003 and 2004 in the Division and the U-20 World Championships in 2003 in Division III, 2004 and 2005 in Division II.

For the men's national team played at the World Championships of Division II in 2005 , 2006 , 2007 , 2008 , 2009 , 2010 , 2012 and 2013 , whereby in 2012 the promotion from the B to the A group of Division II succeeded. That year he was named the tournament's best defender.
