IC 1086 is a galaxy of Hubble type S in the constellation Bootes the northern sky . It is an estimated 285 million light years from the Milky Way and about 35,000 light years in diameter. Together with PGC 53735 , it forms an optical pair of galaxies.
In the same area of the sky is u. a. the galaxy IC 1085 .
The object was discovered by Stéphane Javelle on July 8, 1891 .
