IC 1085 is an elliptical galaxy of the Hubble type E3 with an active galaxy core in the constellation Bear Guardian in the northern sky . It is estimated to be 514 million light years from the Milky Way and about 135,000 light years in diameter.
In the same area of the sky is u. a. the galaxy IC 1086 .
The object was discovered by Stéphane Javelle on July 8, 1891 .
