NGC 4211 is a lenticular galaxy of the Hubble type S0 / a pec in the constellation Haar der Berenike in the northern sky . The galaxy interacts with the galaxy NGC 4211A and forms the galaxy pair Arp 106 .
Halton Arp organized his catalog of unusual galaxies into groups according to purely morphological criteria. This galaxy belongs to the class of elliptical galaxies associated with spirals (Arp catalog) . The galaxy pair is estimated to be 294 million light years from the Milky Way . In the same area of the sky are u. a. the galaxies NGC 4221 and NGC 4256 .
The object was discovered on April 30, 1881 by Édouard Stephan .
