Arp 96 is the name of an interacting galaxy pair in the constellation Cepheus , which consists of a spiral galaxy and an elliptical galaxy and is cataloged together as Arp 96 . Halton Arp organized his catalog of unusual galaxies into groups according to purely morphological criteria. This galaxy belongs to the class spiral galaxies with an elliptical companion on one arm .
