NGC 113 is a Hubble-type E / S0 elliptical galaxy in the constellation Whale south of the ecliptic . It is estimated to be 203 million light years from the Milky Way and about 85,000 light years across. In the same area of the sky are u. a. the galaxies NGC 114 , NGC 118 , NGC 120 , NGC 124 .
The object was discovered on August 27, 1876 by the German astronomer Ernst Wilhelm Leberecht Tempel .
