NGC 120 is a lenticular galaxy of the Hubble type SB0 in the constellation Whale south of the ecliptic . It is an estimated 182 million light years from the Milky Way and is about 80,000 light tubes in diameter.
In the same area of the sky are u. a. the galaxies NGC 113 , NGC 114 , NGC 118 , NGC 124 .
The object was discovered on September 27, 1880 by the German astronomer Ernst Wilhelm Leberecht Tempel .
