NGC 6055 is a 14.1  likes bright lenticular galaxy with an active galactic nucleus from Hubble type SB0 in the constellation Hercules at the northern sky . It is an estimated 510 million light years from the Milky Way and about 150,000 light years in diameter. The galaxy is considered a member of the Hercules galaxy cluster Abell 2151 .

In the same area of ​​the sky are u. a. the galaxies NGC 6053 , IC 1177 , IC 1189 , IC 1190 .

The object was discovered by Lewis A. Swift on June 8, 1886 . This discovery is the database Simbad the galaxy PGC 57076 assigned by Courtney Seligman the galaxy PGC 57090 .
