NGC 6043 is a 14.4 mag bright lenticular galaxy of the Hubble-type S0 in the constellation Hercules in the northern sky . It is estimated to be 445 million light years from the Milky Way and around 95,000 light years in diameter. It belongs to the Hercules supercluster and, together with the non-NGC object PGC 1541265 (also NGC 6043B ), forms a gravitationally bound double galaxy.
In the same area of the sky are u. a. the galaxies NGC 6045 , NGC 6047 , IC 1172 , IC 1179 .
The object was discovered by Lewis A. Swift on June 27, 1886 .
