IC 1177 is a lenticular galaxy of the Hubble type S0 / a in the constellation Hercules in the northern sky . It is an estimated 522 million light years from the Milky Way and about 75,000 light years in diameter. The galaxy is considered a member of the Hercules galaxy cluster Abell 2151 .
In the same area of the sky are u. a. the galaxies NGC 6053 , NGC 6055 , NGC 6061 , IC 1190 .
The object was discovered on June 8, 1888 by Guillaume Bigourdan .
