IC 1187 is a galaxy of Hubble type S? in the constellation Ursa Minor in the northern sky . It is an estimated 348 million light years from the Milky Way and about 40,000 light years in diameter.
The galaxies NGC 6048 and NGC 6071 are located in the same area of ​​the sky .

The object was discovered by Guillaume Bigourdan on March 23, 1889 .
