IC 1188 is a pair of galaxies, with a lens-shaped galaxy of the Hubble type S0-a in the constellation Hercules in the northern sky in the foreground and classified as a starburst galaxy . It is a member of the Hercules galaxy cluster Abell 2151 .
The galaxies IC 1173 , IC 1178 , IC 1181 , IC 1186 are located in the same area of the sky .
The object was discovered by Stéphane Javelle on August 15, 1892 .
