IC 1169 is a spiral galaxy of Hubble type Sb in the constellation Serpens the celestial equator . It is an estimated 154 million light years away from the Milky Way and has a diameter of about 45,000 ly. 
In the same area of the sky are the galaxies NGC 6065 and NGC 6066 , among others .
The object was discovered by Lewis Swift on May 16, 1888 .
