NGC 6072 is an 11.7 mag bright planetary nebula in the constellation Scorpio and about 1020 parsecs from Earth.
It was discovered on June 7, 1837 by John Herschel with an 18-inch reflector telescope, who noted "pF, R, vgvlbM, 1 ′, with left eye slightly mottled, but not resolved".
