Servais Knaven (2004)

The one-day race Paris – Roubaix 2001 was the 99th edition of the cycling classic and took place on Sunday, April 15, 2001.

The race led from Compiègne , around 80 kilometers north of Paris , to Roubaix , where it ended in the Vélodrome André-Pétrieux . The entire route was 254.5 kilometers long. 190 drivers started, 55 of whom were able to place. The winner Servais Knaven completed the race at an average speed of 37.703  km / h .

During the race it was wet and windy, the roads were muddy. The Domo-Farm Frites team sent Wilfried Peeters 90 kilometers from the finish line, but he was caught 14 kilometers from Roubaix. His team-mates kept attacking, and Servais Knaven was on and off four kilometers away. Domo-Farm Frites took four places in the top five.

The two-time winner from 1995 and 1998 , Franco Ballerini , competed in his farewell race and finished 32nd.
