route

The velodrome on race day.

The route from Paris – Roubaix 2016 was 257.5 kilometers long. The race did not start in Paris , as its name suggests , but in Compiègne, 80 kilometers to the north . After a short neutralized section, the race began with the so-called "sharp start" in Clairoix .

The first 98.5 kilometers were rather flat before the riders hit a total of 27 Pavé sectors , the toughest of which are the routes through the Trouée d'Arenberg (18), Mons-en-Pévèle (10), Carrefour de l ' Arbre (4) and a new section this year from Capelle to Ruesnes . The last 750 meters of the race were driven on the Roubaix Velodrome. The winner Mathew Hayman crossed the finish line in the velodrome after just under six hours.
