Hélesmes is a French commune with 1,975 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the department of Nord in the region of Hauts-de-France . It belongs to the arrondissement of Valenciennes and the canton of Saint-Amand-les-Eaux (until 2015: canton Denain ). The inhabitants are called Hélesmois .

geography

Hélesmes is about eleven kilometers west of Valenciennes . Hélesmes is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Hasnon in the north, Wallers in the east, Escaudain in the south, Hornaing in the west and Wandignies-Hamage in the northwest.
