Raismes is a French commune with 12,587 (as of January 1, 2017) inhabitants. It is located six kilometers north of Valenciennes in Nord in the region of Hauts-de-France . The municipality belongs to the canton of Saint-Amand-les-Eaux (until 2015: canton of Saint-Amand-les-Eaux-Rive droite ).
The place and its surroundings are characterized by mining. The No. 2 shaft of the Compagnie des mines d'Anzin is a protected architectural monument ( Monument historique ). Raismes shares with the municipalities of Saint-Amand and Wallers the Forêt de Raismes-Saint-Amand-Wallers , which is used as a local recreation area and on the south side of which there is a 100 m high mountain dump . In this forest which was of 1139 until its demolition in 1818 Prämonstratenser - Abbey Abbaye de Vicogne . At the beginning of May 1793, battles between French and Austrian troops took place in the area around Raimes as part of the French Revolutionary Wars , in which General Auguste Picot de Dampierre was so badly wounded that he died shortly afterwards in Valenciennes.

TER Nord-Pas-de-Calais trains connect Raimes with Valenciennes and Douai .
From January 1, 1881 to January 5, 1964, Raimes could be reached by tram from Valenciennes . A connection to the new Valenciennes tram, which opened in 2006, is planned.

- Since 1998 the Raimesfest, a heavy metal music festival, has been taking place in Raimes on the second weekend in September .
