Petite-Forêt (also: Petite-Forêt de Raismes ) is a French municipality with 4877 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the department of Nord in the region of Hauts-de-France . It belongs to the arrondissement of Valenciennes and the canton of Aulnoy-lez-Valenciennes .

geography

Petite-Forêt is a few kilometers northwest of the city center of Valenciennes . The neighboring municipalities are Raismes in the north, Anzin in the east, Valenciennes in the southeast, La Sentinelle in the south and Aubry-du-Hainaut in the west and southwest.

The A23 autoroute runs through the municipality from Valenciennes to Lille .

history

In the early modern period, a Carmelite convent was established here as part of the Counter Reformation in 1629 . In 1801 the place became an independent municipality.
