Bruay-sur-l'Escaut is a French municipality with 11,449 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the department of Nord in the region of Hauts-de-France . It belongs to the arrondissement of Valenciennes and the canton of Anzin . The inhabitants are called Bruaysiennes .

geography

Bruay-sur-l'Escaut is located in the northern French coal mining area on the Scheldt (French: Escaut ). It is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Raismes in the north-west and north, Escautpont in the north-east, Saint-Saulve in the east and south-east, Valenciennes in the south, Anzin in the south-west and Beuvrages in the west.
