Emil Herbolzheimer

Emilio or Emil Otto Herbolzheimer (born May 13, 1944 - March 30, 2011 ) was a German-Spanish economist.

He became an electrical engineer at the Escuela Técnica de Peritos Industriales and earned his Masters of Arts and PhD in Philosophy from Michigan State University .

He initially works as an economist for Union Carbide in Venezuela and the Urquijo Bank in Spain. He then headed a management consultancy in technology management. For 13 years he worked as a Senior Economist for the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD).

He taught economics at the Catholic University of Caracas and the University of Geneva. He later moved to the ESADE Business School in Barcelona and in 1997 to the Henley Management College , where he headed the departments Strategic Alignment and Business Transformation.

Shortly after he retired, he died of cardiac arrest while on a skiing holiday in La Molina .
