Beuvrages Town Hall

Beuvrages is a French municipality with 6740 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the department of Nord in the region of Hauts-de-France . It belongs to the arrondissement of Valenciennes and the canton of Anzin . The inhabitants are called Beuvrageois .

geography

Beuvrages is located in the northern French coalfield on the river Schelde (French: Escaut ). Beuvrages is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Raismes in the north and west, Bruay-sur-l'Escaut in the north-east and east, Valenciennes in the south-east and Anzin in the south and south-west.

history

Around 800 the place is mentioned under the name Brevetica . Until 1748, the Abbey of the Ladies of Beaumont in Bavay ruled the area.
