Rombies-et-Marchipont is a French municipality with 760 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the department of Nord in the region of Hauts-de-France . It belongs to the canton of Marly (until 2015: canton of Valenciennes-Est ) in the arrondissement of Valenciennes and is a member of the Communauté d'agglomération Valenciennes Métropole . The inhabitants are called Rombinois .
geography
Rombies-et-Marchipont is located on the Belgian border about eight kilometers east of Valenciennes on the Aunelle River . Rombies-et-Marchipont is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Quarouble in the north, Honnelles (Belgium) in the east, Sebourg in the south, Estreux in the south-west and Onnaing in the west and north-west.

In 1806 the municipalities of Rombies and Marchipont were merged.
