Moulin de la Vallée at Rombies-et-Marchipont

The Aunelle is a river in France that runs in the Nord department in the Hauts-de-France region . It rises under the name Ruisseau du Bois d'Erpion in the northern municipality of Locquignol , in the Forêt Domaniale de Mormal forest area , which is part of the Avesnois Regional Nature Park . It initially drains to the northwest, later to the north and flows into the Hogneau after around 27 kilometers in the municipality of Crespin as a left tributary . For the last five kilometers, the Aunelle forms the state border between France and Belgium .
