Noriko Mochida

Noriko Mochida ( Japanese 北 田 典 子 Mochida, Noriko ; born August 10, 1966 ) is a former Japanese judoka . She was third in the 1987 World Cup.

Athletic career

Noriko Mochida fought in the light middleweight division, the weight class up to 61 kilograms. In 1987 and 1988 she won the Japanese championships in this weight class.

Mochida won the Fukuoka Cup in 1986, defeating Lynn Roethke from the United States in the final . At the 1987 World Championships in Essen, Mochida defeated the Dutch Chita Gross in the quarter-finals and lost to the British Diana Bell in the semi-finals . She won the battle for a bronze medal against Lenka Šindlerová from Czechoslovakia.

At the 1988 Olympic Games , women's judo was held as a demonstration competition. In her first fight, she defeated the South Korean Kim Sung-hye after 4:25 minutes. After her semi-final defeat against Diane Bell with Ippon after 1:37 minutes, she won the battle for a bronze medal against Donna Guy from New Zealand by a big score (waza-ari).
