Prouvy is a French commune with 2,282 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the department of Nord in the region of Hauts-de-France . It belongs to the community association Valenciennes Métropole , for Arrondissement Valenciennes and is part of the Canton of Aulnoy-lez-Valenciennes (2015: Canton Valenciennes-Sud ). The inhabitants are called Prouvysia (ne) s .
geography
Prouvy is located about six kilometers southwest of Valenciennes on the canalized Scheldt . Prouvy is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Rouvignies in the north and northwest, Hérin in the north, La Sentinelle in the northeast, Trith-Saint-Léger in the east, Maing in the southeast, Thiant in the south and Haulchin in the west and southwest.
The A2 autoroute and the former Route nationale 30 (today's D630) run through the municipality . Valenciennes-Denain Airport is to the east of the municipality .
