Rumegies is a French commune with 1,797 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the department of Nord in the region of Hauts-de-France . Administratively, the municipality is assigned to the arrondissement of Valenciennes ; it belongs to the canton of Saint-Amand-les-Eaux (until 2015: canton of Saint-Amand-les-Eaux-Rive gauche ).
geography
Rumegies is located in French Flanders on the Belgian border, about 15 kilometers northwest of Valenciennes and about 20 kilometers southeast of Lille , on the Elnon . Rumegies is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Brunehaut in the north and east, Lecelles in the east and south-east, Saméon in the south and west and Aix-en-Pévèle in the west and north-west.

The 18th century church of St. Brictius (Saint-Brice) belongs to the parish of St. Eligius , based in Lecelles in the Archdiocese of Cambrai . Church services take place regularly in Rumegies, but not every weekend.
