geography

Saméon is located around 21 kilometers northeast of Douai near the Belgian border. Saméon is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Aix-en-Pévèle in the north and north-west, Rumegies in the north-east, Lecelles in the east, Rosult in the south and south-east and Landas in the west.

Until 1830 the parish was part of the municipality of Coutiches.
