Bernicourt Castle was built in early 1743 on an area of 25 hectares. It was a manorial residence until the beginning of the 20th century. From 1930 to 1985 it was owned by the coal mines and the managers and employees were housed there. It has belonged to the city of Roost-Warendin since 1985. It was restored from 1985 to 1989 and has been open to the public ever since. Exhibitions are held regularly on the lower floors.
Town twinning
The city has been twinning with Haltern am See since 1992 . This contact arose in connection with a school partnership of the Collège Dr. Conductor with the Städtische Realschule Haltern (since 2008 Alexander-Lebenstein-Realschule ). The Haltern station forecourt is called Roost-Warendin-Platz .
