The Alexander-Lebenstein-Realschule Haltern am See is the only Realschule in the Westphalian city of Haltern am See . It shares a building complex (school center) with the Joseph-König-Gymnasium .

history

In December 1966, the city council of Haltern passed the resolution to establish a secondary school. In 1967 it began teaching as the Städtische Realschule Haltern in the rooms of the youth home of the parish of St. Laurentius. In the second year of existence, the rooms of the Eichendorff primary school could be used. In December 1970, the Marl architect Hans Hansen won the architecture competition for the construction of the new school center. On August 1, 1974, with the completion of the first construction phase of the Haltern school center, the secondary school moved into its new rooms.

In January 1991 the range of foreign languages ​​in French was expanded with the establishment of a bilingual class. In 2003 the school received the award School without Racism - School with Courage , the sponsorship was taken over by the last surviving Jew from Haltern, Alexander Lebenstein . Since June 6th, 2008 the school has been called Alexander-Lebenstein-Realschule.

Educational work, equipment and offers

  • Since 1991: Bilingual class, history lessons are given in French.

A school partnership between the Alexander-Lebenstein-Realschule and the Collège Dr. Schaffner in Roost-Warendin a French municipality with 6141 inhabitants (at January 1, 2017) in Nord in the region of Hauts-de-France . In 1993 it resulted in a town partnership between Haltern am See and Roost-Warendin.
