Rieulay is a French commune with 1,327 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the department of Nord in the region of Hauts-de-France . It belongs to the Arrondissement of Douai and the Canton of Sin-le-Noble (until 2015: Canton Marchiennes ). The inhabitants are called Rieulaysiens .
geography
Rieulay is about twelve kilometers east-northeast of Douai and about 19 kilometers west-northwest of Valenciennes . The canalized Scarpe limits the community to the north and northeast. Rieulay is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Marchiennes in the north, Wandignies-Hamage in the east and north-east, Fenain in the east and south-east, Somain in the south, Bruille-lez-Marchiennes in the south and south-west, Pecquencourt in the west and south-west and Vred in the west and north-west.
The A21 autoroute runs through the municipality .
