Somain is a French municipality with 12,151 inhabitants (at January 1, 2017) in Nord in the region of Hauts-de-France . It belongs to the Arrondissement of Douai and the canton of Sin-le-Noble .
In 1947 the neighboring municipality of Villers-Campeau was incorporated.

Somain is located in northern France, about halfway between the towns of Douai in the west and Valenciennes in the east.
