Marcq-en-Ostrevent (NDL .: "brand") is a French commune in the Nord in the region of Hauts-de-France .
geography
Marcq-en-Ostrevent is about 170 kilometers northeast of Paris and about 25 kilometers as the crow flies from the Belgian border. The neighboring communities of Marcq-en-Ostrevent are southwest Féchain and west Fressain . It is connected to Villers-au-Tertre and Wavrechain-sous-Faulx via the D132 and to Auberchicourt via the D150 .
Population development
The first records of the population data come from the year 1793. At that time , 318 people lived in the community, which was still called Marq . In the following years the number of inhabitants rose steadily to just over 500 people and has remained stable since the middle of the 19th century, apart from minor fluctuations. Currently (January 1st, 2017) 736 people inhabit this community.

In 1117 the place was first mentioned as "Marca".
In 1793 the place was still called Marq . In 1801 the name was changed to the current place name. Since the same year it has also belonged to the canton of Arleux, before that it belonged to the canton of Lewarde.
