Jan Martin Scharf

Jan Martin Scharf (* 1974 in Cologne ) is a multiple award-winning German director and screenwriter .

Life

education

Scharf studied at the New York Film Academy in 1996 , then from 1998 to 2004 at the Academy of Media Arts in Cologne . In 2001 he received a scholarship from the Munich Script Workshop . His diploma film Truth or Dare (co-director: Arne Nolting ) received the Student Jury Prize at the Max Ophüls Film Festival and a Silver Zenith for best debut film at the Montreal World Film Festival . He also received a nomination for the First Steps Award .

Career

In the following years, Scharf wrote scripts for series such as SOKO Cologne , Wilsberg , The Last Bull and Alarm for Cobra 11 - Die Autobahnpolizei . At the end of 2013 he began shooting his first feature film, Dessau Dancers .

Together with Arne Nolting, he wrote the script for the series Club der rote Bänder , which ran very successfully on VOX at the end of 2015 and was awarded the German TV Prize and the Grimme Prize in 2016.
