Lourches is a French municipality with 3949 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the department of Nord in the region of Hauts-de-France . It belongs to the arrondissement of Valenciennes and the canton of Denain . The inhabitants are called Lourchois (es) .
geography
Lourches lies on the canalized Scheldt . The neighboring communities of Lourches are Escaudain in the north, Denain in the east and northeast, Douchy-les-Mines in the east and southeast, Neuville-sur-Escaut in the south, Bouchain in the southwest and Rœulx in the west.
The A21 autoroute runs along the eastern edge of the municipality .
