Maing Town Hall

Maing is a French municipality with 4112 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the department of Nord in the region of Hauts-de-France . It belongs to the Valenciennes Métropole municipal association , to the Valenciennes arrondissement and is part of the canton of Aulnoy-lez-Valenciennes . The inhabitants are called Maingeois .

geography

Maing is located in northern France on the canalized Scheldt . Maing is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Trith-Saint-Léger in the north, Famars in the east, Quérénaing in the south, Monchaux-sur-Écaillon in the south-west, Thiant in the west and Prouvy in the north-west.

Town twinning

Between 1992 and 2017 there was a town partnership with the German town of Hohen Neuendorf .

The partnership was terminated by the city council of Hohen Neuendorf, as the relationship had been broken for years. One last attempt at resuscitation was rejected by the French mayor Phillipe Baudrin "... he no longer sees any prospect of contacts ...". The French partnership committee disbanded in 2014.
