Onnaing is a French municipality with 8797 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the department of Nord in the region of Hauts-de-France . It belongs to the canton of Anzin in the arrondissement of Valenciennes and is a member of the Communauté d'agglomération Valenciennes Métropole .
geography
The place is only a few kilometers southwest of the Belgian border near Mons on Autoroute A2 and Route nationale 29 .
Onnaing is surrounded by the neighboring communities Fresnes-sur-Escaut in the north, Vicq in the northeast, Quarouble in the east, Rombies-et-Marchipont in the southeast, Estreux in the south, Saint-Saulve in the southwest and Escautpont and Bruay-sur-l'Escaut in the Northwest.
