Rouvignies is a French municipality with 655 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the department of Nord in the region of Hauts-de-France . It belongs to the community association Valenciennes Métropole , for Arrondissement Valenciennes and is part of the Canton of Aulnoy-lez-Valenciennes (2015: Canton Valenciennes-Sud ).

geography

Rouvignies is about six kilometers southwest of Valenciennes on the canalized Scheldt . Rouvignies is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Hérin in the north, Prouvy in the east and south-east, Haulchin in the south and south-west and Wavrechain-sous-Denain in the west and south-west.

The A2 autoroute as well as the former Routes nationales 30 (today's D630) and 45 (today's D645) run through the municipality .
