Saultain is a French commune with a population of 2,398 (as at 1st January 2017) in the department of Nord in the region of Hauts-de-France . It belongs to the canton of Marly (until 2015: canton of Valenciennes-Est ) in the arrondissement of Valenciennes and is a member of the Communauté d'agglomération Valenciennes Métropole .
geography
Saultain is located near the Belgian border about four kilometers southeast of Valenciennes . Saultain is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Saint-Saulve in the north, Estreux in the northeast, Curgies in the east and southeast, Préseau in the south and southeast, Aulnoy-lez-Valenciennes in the southwest and Marly in the west.
Autoroute A2 leads through the municipality .
