Aleksejs Saramotins (born April 8, 1982 in Riga ) is a Latvian cyclist .

Athletic career

2005 Aleksejs Saramotins became the first Latvian road champion; by 2016 he was able to win this title six more times. In 2016 he became national runner-up in the individual time trial .

2008 was Saramotins' most successful year to date when he won a stage of the Circuit des Ardennes , the SEB Tartu Grand Prix , the Scandinavian Road Race , a stage of the Tour of Slovakia and the overall ranking of the Lombardia Tour .

In 2012 Alekjejs Saramotins started the road race at the Summer Olympics in London and finished 56th.

In 2011 and 2012, Saramotins started for Cofidis, le Crédit en Ligne , and then rode for four years for the IAM Cycling team . For 2017 he signed a contract with Bora-hansgrohe .
