Gatis Smukulis (born April 15, 1987 in Valka ) is a former Latvian cyclist .

Career

In 2005, Gatis Smukulis won the overall rankings of the junior races Trofeo Karlsberg in Saarland and the Giro di Basilicata and Kroz Istru in Croatia . In 2006 he was two-time national U23 champion in road racing and in the individual time trial . He became a Latvian champion ten times.

The greatest international success was a stage win at the Tour of Catalonia 2011.
