Bora-Hans Grohe (formerly Team NetApp , Team NetApp Endura and bora-Argon 18 ) is a German cycling team with seat in Raubling in Upper Bavaria .
history
Former racing cyclist Ralph Denk is the team leader of the team that was founded in autumn 2009 . The two former professional cyclists Jens Heppner and Enrico Poitschke took over the sporting management . At the end of July 2013, as a result of the publication of the French doping test, in which he u. a. Doping at the Tour de France 1998 was accused, from July 2013 released from his duties as sporting director at Team NetApp-Endura "by mutual agreement" by the team management.
The team has been taking part in international bike races since 2010, initially as a Continental team, particularly in the UCI Europe Tour . The name sponsor was the American IT group NetApp at the beginning . In the 2011 season, the team received the status of UCI Professional Continental Team for the first time . In 2013 it merged with the British team Endura Racing to become Team NetApp-Endura . Alex Sans Vega from Endura Racing became one of the sporting directors of the joint team. The team has been a member of the Mouvement Pour un Cyclisme Crédible since 2012 .
In 2012, the team received a wildcard for one of the three major national tours , the Giro d'Italia, for the first time . The first start at the Vuelta a España followed in 2013 and the team was able to take part in the Tour de France for the first time in 2014 . For the 2015 season, the previous title sponsors were replaced by the German manufacturer of cooktops and cooktop extractors Bora and the Canadian wheel manufacturer Argon 18 .
In summer 2016, hansgrohe was presented as the second name sponsor for 2017 . The team was aiming for a place in the WorldTour and committed to a. the reigning world champion Peter Sagan . The team was renamed Bora-hansgrohe and received a license as a UCI WorldTeam from the UCI for the first time for the 2017 and 2018 seasons .

Trivia
Bora-Hansgrohe has been running the Sprinter Ion Göttlich as a team member on its official website since 2019 . This fictional character was invented by Claudio Pavan in 2014. Cycling Weekly called him “the most popular cyclist who does not compete in the Tour de France”.
