Cesare Benedetti (born August 3, 1987 in Rovereto ) is an Italian racing cyclist . He is considered a reliable helper .

biography

After the Northern Italian led the Giro Ciclistico d'Italia ("Baby-Giro") for young riders for three days in 2009 and finished sixth, he was a stagiaire at UCI ProTeam Liquigas at the end of the year . In 2010 he switched to the German Continental Team NetApp and stayed with this team, which subsequently received a license as a Professional Continental Team and later as a UCI WorldTeam . With this team he contested his first "Grand Tour" at the 2012 Giro d'Italia , which he finished in 107th place.

After his contract with his team, which was now called Bora, was not to be extended at the end of the 2015 season, he convinced the team management, among other things, with his 14th place at the Giro di Lombardia . Benedetti won the mountain classification of Tirreno-Adriatico 2016 . In 2018 he was third overall in Okolo Slovenska , a stage race in the first category .

At the Giro d'Italia 2019 , Benedetti won the mountainous 12th stage in the sprint of a five-person leading group and thus achieved his first international elite victory.
