Ralf Matzka (born August 24, 1989 in Villingen-Schwenningen ) is a former German cyclist .
Athletic career
In 2007 Matzka won a stage of the international junior cycling tour in Upper Austria. At the European Junior Track Cycling Championships in Cottbus, he won silver in the points race and gold in the Madison . At the German championship he won the competitions in the Madison, the team pursuit and the points race among the juniors .
In 2008 and 2010 Matzka drove for the Continental Teams Ista and Heizomat . During this time he won two stages in international tours on the road : in 2008 the third stage in the Tour de Korea-Japan and in 2010 the third stage in the Flèche du Sud . At the U23 European Track Championships in 2010, he won silver in scratch and bronze in Madison. In 2011 and 2012 he drove for the Thuringian Energy Team, which also belongs to the Continental category . For the 2013 season he switched to Ralph Denk's team, the NetApp-Endura team , which was called Bora-Argon 18 from 2015 .
On July 11, 2017 it was announced that Ralf Matzka had tested positive for tamoxifen during a training check on March 3, 2016 . For the small amounts of the substance found, dietary supplements or water can also be used as a source in addition to intentional intake. Matzka was not initially banned, but the legal proceedings under sports law have not yet been completed. He was initially no longer used by his team Bora-Argon 18 and his contract was not extended after the 2016 season. He contested his last professional race on April 3, 2016 at the Tour of Flanders . The investigation by the public prosecutor's office was discontinued in September 2016 due to a lack of suspicion. In January 2018 the World Cycling Federation Union Cycliste Internationale announced that Matzka had been banned retroactively for two years until November 2018.
