Phil Bauhaus (born July 8, 1994 in Bocholt ) is a German racing cyclist . He is considered a strong sprinter.
Career
In 2013 Phil Bauhaus won his first international road race with a stage of the Bulgaria . At the German U23 road championships in 2014 , Bauhaus took second place, in the elite race he came third behind André Greipel and John Degenkolb . For the 2015 season he switched to the Bora-Argon 18 team . For this team he won the final stage of the Tour of Denmark in 2016 , a stage race in the hors category .
With the Giro d'Italia 2017 , Bauhaus contested its first Grand Tour . He placed in the top ten three times in mass sprint finishes, including once in fourth, and did team work for overall leader Tom Dumoulin . He had to give up the race on the 17th stage tired. His greatest success to date was the Critérium du Dauphiné 2017 , where he won the fifth stage in the mass sprint. At the Abu Dhabi Tour 2018 he won the third stage in the sprint, a few millimeters ahead of Marcel Kittel . On the first stage of the BinckBank Tour he was narrowly beaten by road world champion Peter Sagan in the sprint to the finish.
For the 2019 season, Bauhaus switched to the Bahrain-Merida team , to which Marcel Sieberg also switched, who was supposed to support Bauhaus in the sprints. In his first year with this team, Bauhaus won the Italian semi-classic Coppa Bernocchi and at the start of the season the overall ranking and two stages of the Saudi Tour .
