UAE tour
The UAE Tour (from 2015 to 2018 Abu Dhabi Tour ) is a stage race in road cycling in the United Arab Emirates .
history
The competition was held for the first time in 2015 as the Abu Dhabi Tour in the emirate of Abu Dhabi and comprised four stages in and around Abu Dhabi . The organizer is RCS Sport , which also organizes the Giro d'Italia and the Dubai Tour , among others . The competition was part of the UCI Asia Tour until 2016 and was classified in category 2.1 . The competition was added to the UCI WorldTour calendar starting with the 2017 season .
The winner of the first edition was the Colombian Esteban Chaves . On the evening of the last day of racing, the UCI Cycling Gala took place for the first time , honoring the best road riders of the season.
For the 2019 season, the race was combined with the Dubai Tour and, as the UAE Tour, is to lead through all seven Emirates. The edition in 2020 had to be canceled after five of seven stages due to the corona virus . Two Italian employees of a racing team were infected with the virus. All 167 drivers then had to undergo tests. These were all negative.
