Grand Prix Cycliste de Québec
The Grand Prix Cycliste de Québec is a Canadian cycling race .
The one-day race was held for the first time on September 10, 2010. The premier winner was the French Thomas Voeckler .
Just like the Grand Prix Cycliste de Montréal, which took place two days later, the race was included in the UCI ProTour (since 2011: UCI WorldTour ) in its first year. Along with the Grand Prix Cycliste de Montréal and the Tour Down Under, it is the only WorldTour race outside of Europe . As with all WorldTour races, the UCI WorldTeams are entitled and obliged to start.
route
The 12.6 km long circuit through Québec is driven a total of 15 times. On each of the 15 laps the 375 meters and an average of 10% steep "Cote de la Montagne" (at km 9) and the 9% steep "Cote de la Potasse" (km 11) have to be conquered. The course starts near the fortress of Québec and after a few kilometers leads to the Saint Lawrence River . From there the route leads back over the incline towards the fortress.
