Ion Divine

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Ion Göttlich is a fictional Italian cyclist created by the South African animator Claudio Pavan.

Pavan created Ion Göttlich, whose appearance is reminiscent of the Incredible Hulk , at the end of 2014. According to his own words, he had the idea for this character while on vacation and after watching track cyclists on YouTube . In about six weeks Pavan produced and posted the first video with Divine. Due to the great response, Pavan created other short clips with Divine.

According to a fictional résumé, Ion Göttlich was born in Italy on March 25, 1986 and is active as a sprinter on the track and road . He is therefore 1.90 meters tall and weighs 138 kilograms.

In 2018 Ion Göttlich was used as an advertising character for the track cycling World Cup at the Vélodrome National in Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines , France . As part of an advertising campaign by the Bora-hansgrohe team , it was announced in 2019 that Göttlich would compete in the Tour de France . After a start did not work out due to a lack of performance and he had not received a professional contract, he was hired by Eurosport as a commentator .

Ion Göttlich has 54,200 "followers" on Instagram and 2,150 subscribers on YouTube (as of August 3, 2019). For Cycling Weekly he is therefore "probably one of the most popular cyclists who do not compete in the Tour de France".
