Mérignies is a French commune with 3,065 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the department of Nord in the region of Hauts-de-France . It belongs to the arrondissement of Lille and is part of the canton of Templeuve (until 2015: canton of Pont-à-Marcq ).

Mérignies is about 13 kilometers south of Lille . Mérignies is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Avelin in the north and north-west, Pont-à-Marcq in the north, Ennevelin in the north and north-east, Cappelle-en-Pévèle in the east, Bersée in the south-east, Mons-en-Pévèle in the south and south-west and Tourmignies in the West.
