The " Ferme des Templiers "
The Saint-Chrysole Church

Verlinghem has a rich historical heritage for a village of this size. Three buildings have been classified as " Monument historique " (literally: historical monument ) and placed under monument protection:

  • The Saint-Chrysole - Well , some one beside the in March 2006 (cinema) film was shot. The fountain was listed as a " Monument historique " in 1920 .
  • The “ Ferme des Templiers ” (literally: courtyard of the Knights Templar ). Despite its name, the building never belonged to the Knights Templar , the somewhat confusing name goes back to the earlier ( feudal ) landlords of the lands of Verlinghem. Nevertheless, this fortified courtyard remains a remarkable building from the 16th century . The property, like the aforementioned Saint Chrysole fountain, was listed as a historical monument in 1920.
  • The porch of Saint-Chrysole - church with a saint figure depicting the beheaded Saint-Chrysole (Saint Chrysolius) , the patron saint of Verlinghem. He is said to have been martyred by the Romans in the 4th century . He will open, skull , with the bones of his skull in his hand, from a point at 4 km away Quesnoy-sur-Deûle be marched up to Verlinghem to die in the place where now the fountain of Saint-Chrysole- Well rises whose water is said to have healing powers.
